The WSFM hosts had a 1.1 per cent increase, to leapfrog traditional oldies rival Smooth and mount a challenge on their ARN stablemates, perennial leaders KIIS’s Kyle & Jackie O.

Kyle & Jackie O’s stranglehold on the FM breakfast slot remains secure, even though they stayed steady on last survey’s 10 per cent share.

2DayFM’s Em Rusciano continued her slow growth, rising 0.3 per cent to follow last survey’s similar jump.

She now has a 3.6 per cent share of the breakfast crowd, still lagging behind the likes of Triple M and Triple J.

The breakfast slot remains in Alan Jones’ hands, though.

The 2GB host earned a 1.0 per cent rise, increasing his share to 14.9 per cent and brushing off Robbie Buck’s challenge with ABC last survey (Buck dropped 0.9 per cent this survey).

The drive slot saw similarly jumpy results, with ARN’s WSFM (2.0 increase) and KIIS (1.2 increase) again among the biggest winners.

Smooth’s recent rise, which saw the station earn among its best ever numbers earlier this year, has been brought back down to earth, suffering a big 1.8 per cent drop for drive host Byron Webb.

The station’s stablemate NOVA, with hosts Kate Ritchie, Tim Blackwell and Marty Sheargold, remain the leaders in drive despite a 0.5 per cent drop this survey.

In the AM field, n Ninja Warrior host Ben Fordham increased his lead on the oldies dial, jumping 1.1 per cent for 2GB to hold a sizeable 10 per cent share.
